Japanese Showa Two Panel Screen Flowering Cherry by River

About the Item

Gorgeous Japanese 20th century Showa period two panel byobu screen depicting a delicate flowering cherry (sakura) tree by a meandering river or stream. Painted with ink and natural color pigments over a gilt square ground. The delicate white blossoming tree is painted with Rinpa school elements and signed on the left with an artist seal. Set in a black ebonized lacquer frame with a peach toned silk brocade border. Impressive screen in very good condition. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
