Japanese Two-Panel Meiji Screen Autumn Landscape

About

Late 19th century Japanese Meiji period two-panel screen depicting an autumn landscape with Japanese song birds. The screen features a Buddhist pine or Maki tree and a Japanese maple or momiji tree. Painted with ink and color over gold leaf squares and applied gilt shading. Made in the Nihonga school style and set in a lacquered black frame with a silk border. Very impressive screen from an estate in San Francisco, CA.
