Japanese two-panel screen: Pink and white magnolias in early bloom, Taisho period (1912-1926) painting of Japanese magnolia tree branches as the flowers are opening. This type of magnolia blooms in late winter/early spring and is one of the first trees to provide a landscape with color. Mineral pigments on silk with a silk brocade border. Signature and seal read: Gunjo.
