About the Item

A wonderful image titled "Misty Day in Nikko (日光 霧の日 Nikko kiri no hi)" by one of Japan's finest 20th century artist and one of, if not the greatest working artist in the Shin-Hanga (new print) movement. Yoshida was the first in a long lineage of renowned family artist. His works can be found in numerous prominent collections and museums worldwide. This work exhibits the coveted Jizuri Seal indicating that it was self printed by Yoshida in his lifetime. This work, featuring a lovely scene with a small gathering of pilgrims near a forest shrine/temple in the small picturesque city of Nikko in Japan’s Tochigi Prefecture. It was printed in 1937 and still displays very deep, vibrant, rich color. The woodblock print is hand pencil signed and titled by Yoshida and displays his brushed sumi ink "Yoshida" signature and is sealed with his red "Hiroshi" seal within the image. The Jizuri seal can be seen towards the top of the left margin. A special work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art and print collection or an eye-catching stand-alone accent artwork in about any setting. Professionally framed and matted. Frame dimensions: 20" high, 16" wide, 1" deep Viewable art: 14" x 9.75"
