Antique Chinese Gongshi (Scholar’s Rock)
About the Item
Chinese Gongshi (Scholar’s Rock), a found and possibly augmented bronze colored Green Lingbi Stone, limestone with calcite deposits with adhesions of orange buff stone in the crevices, having furrows, wrinkles and peaks displayed on a custom flat rosewood footed base in a vertical manner having a front side resembling hills, peaks, crevices and caves in a distant landscape. Evidence of skin (patina) to the stone with accentuated dusty crevasses Excellent condition. 14” high x 13” wide x 6” deep. 19th century.
Provenance: John & Nancy Rosanoff Krysco, Pleasantville, NY.
