About the Item
This serene Jain altarpiece of the enthroned and unclothed Buddha with numerous attendant figures including elephants is characteristic of Jain bronzes from the 15th century. The extensive inscription of the reverse is in Devanagari script with a Samvat date 1478 (AD 1421).
