Large Early 20th Century Chinese Carved Jade Vase

About the Item

A large and impressive Chinese caved jade vase, Republic Period, circa 1930. Carved from one massive piece of jade. The vase carved with the He He Er Xian, the Immortal Twin Boys of the Taoist pantheon, supporting the sides. The body carved with a design of lotus flowers, and pair of bats. The neck featuring lotus petal lapettes, and a pair of mythical animal handles. The cover topped with a Mandarin duck holding a spray of lotus. The jade an overall celadon color, with areas of suffused green and white, and a vein of bright apple green. With a fitted carved and pierced hardwood stand featuring a design of birds and flowers.
