Important Ancient China 26" Tall Imperial Ming "Fish" Servant, 1368-1644

About

Important ancient Imperial China Ming tomb treasure attendant, 1368-1644, 26 inches in height. This large female attendant caressing a platter sized fish is one of a small group of monumental attendants recently available from an old European collection and originally collected in Hong Kong in the 1990s. The pleasant faced attendant is dressed in a tunic and long gown with long sleeves, her hands in front caressing a favourite food of the time, a fish - surely an accoutrement of the elite and wealthy of the time. She is beautifully glazed in green and cream colors highlighted by original red and black pigments - a superior feature not often found on these works of art and representative of an important tomb which deserved highest quality pottery votive representations. The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period. Important large-scale sculptures such as this one were placed in tombs of the elite and wealthy as significant accompaniment in the after life Dimension: twenty six inches tall Condition: Superb, completely original and intact with finely preserved glazes and pigments. Provenance: Old European collection originally acquired in Hong Kong 1990s and legally imported into the USA. Guarantee: Our figure is guaranteed to be crafted during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). A thermoluminescence TL report sampling accurately confirms age of these sculptures from 500-600 years ago. See photo. History: yin-yang is a combination or fusion of the two cosmic forces and is commonly a circle divided by an S-shaped line into a dark and a light segment, representing respectively yin and yang, each containing a 'seed' of the other. The Ming dynasty then known as the Empire of the Great Ming ruled China for 276 years (1368–1644) following the collapse of the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. This dynasty has been described as one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history and was the last imperial dynasty in China ruled by ethnic Han Chinese. Lifetime guarantee of authenticity: All of our Asian works of art come with our Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee.
