Large 19th century Japanese burl wood presentation tray. Natural wood tray made from a large piece of burl with an added base. Originally made for presenting scholarly objects, or objects of leisure or pleasure (smoking implements, flower arranging, tea implements, etc). Beautiful texture, curling shapes, and patina. (shape is irregular, max dimensions listed).
