Antique Chinese Silk Embroidered Tiger Hat, 19th Century Textile Cap

About the Item

Antique Chinese Handmade Textiles Probably made as a children’s hat, although it does fit on my head. Silk tiger hats were made for children, especially boys to help ward off evil spirits and were mainly worn on special occasions, birthdays, New Year celebrations and festivals. This example is made from silk with various comical and childlike features in different colours. It is in a worn condition with wear commensurate with age and use. Please see the photographs. Laid flat it measures 44cm high x 33cm wide.
