Visually striking vintage Uchikake Wedding Kimono/Robe for ceremonial occasion, circa end of Meiji to Taisho period 1910s-1930s. This bridal outer garment is of a white and red color that features elaborate and intricate embroidery in gold and red threads. Using brilliant colored and gold threads, the artisan decorated the kimono with the most auspicious symbols including flying phoenix, blooming peonies, fans, maple branches, and wisteria flowers. They form roundel motifs in a highly elaborate layout, especially striking when viewed from the back. The interior of the kimono is also padded with red fabric and weighted down at the bottom trim. The item is larger than life-size and somewhat heavy and is meant for ceremonial use only. This beautiful artisan hand-crafted piece can be displayed as wall art or on a stand as a sculpture. 18th or the early 19th century Ottoman gilt thread embroidery textile panels. Each panel is decorated by hand stitched gold thread embroideries on a dark brown velvet material backed by heavy muslin. Created in the 18th or the early 19th century, they were used as wall panels but can also be used as table runners. One panel is about 29” longer than the other one and the extra material is folded.
