Pair of Art Deco Streamline Moderne Architectural Sculpture Andirons

About the Item

A spectacular pair of Art Deco Streamline Moderne skyscraper city-view architectural sculpture andirons. Featuring machine age Modernist styling with nods to Brutalist design, these fabulous vintage andirons feature sculptural design of three graduated hexagonal columns finished in rich, lustrous, highly polished steel, rising on a substantial solid steel square block base in industrial finish, depicting a trio of cities buildings. Circa 1930s/early 1940s Provenance: Aquired from a fine and impressively well-appointed Greenwich, Connecticut estate Dimensions: (each approx:) 13" High, 5" Wide, 5" Deep. --- Or make it a complete fireplace suite; at the time of writing this, the stunning set of Post-Modern fireplace tools by American design icon Danny Alessandro, shown in a few of the photos is available (not included with andirons). Bold, elegantly refined minimalist taste, artistic very fine quality cast fire tools with ring handles in chromed nickeled steel, comprising four implements each with a circular "ring" handle that slides over and registers securely into a notch on the integral floor stand. This is not only an incredibly utilitarian fireplace tool set, but an exceptional example of clean contemporary design and exquisite craftsmanship. It would make a superb addition to any style of interior, from Art Deco, Midcentury Industrial, Hollywood Regency, Postmodern Glam to classic contemporary.
