19th Century Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Andirons, a Pair

About the Item

A very fine pair of neoclassical style Continental (likely French) arrow and quiver form gilt bronze andirons. Dating to the 19th century, finished in luxurious Louis XVI taste, the European antiques feature rich detailing throughout, finely chiseled and chased, fluted column with wonderfully textured feathered arrows rising from quiver, over cylindrical reeded pillar, reminiscent of flaming torchiere, with footed curved base adorned with raised classic urn decorated with ram head masks and laurel wreath swag ornamentation topped with repoussed finial, later black iron. circa 1850 Dimensions: (approx) Each: 26.5" Tall, 9.75" Wide, 24.25" Deep Condition Report: In overall great condition, with exquisite finely moulded details and no losses to components, age appropriate pitting and oxidation to gilt concentrated at base, and small area of verdigris patina to base of andiron that does not detract from the overall display but only adding to the unique antique character and historic depth of the pair.
