Pair of Mid-19th Century French Wrought Iron Andirons with Bowls
About the Item
Forged in France, circa 1860, the antique andirons stand on three legs with hooks to hold decorative bar across. They feature a cupped, round shaped top; called a "Landiers" in French, and were once used in homes as a food warmer; for instance, a bowl of soup would be placed in the andiron cup near the hot fire to keep it warm. The Classic fireplace accessories are in excellent condition and adorn a rich patinated black finish.
