Two Large 1870s Louis XVI Style Bronze Firedogs

About the Item

Large pair of chiseled and gilt bronze fire dogs, Louis XVI style. The upright, adorned with stylized waves frieze, is linked to the front part by a volute with acorns and oak leaves. The front part is in cassolette-shape topped by a torch and its adorned with typical Louis XVI style ornaments: rushes wand, egg-and-dart frieze, gadroons, pearl friezes. French work from the 1870, original gilding.
