19th Century Architectural Carved Parcel Gilt Pierced Wood Panel, Europe or U.S.

About the Item

The stunning appearance of the rosettes that are hand carved into the panel are amazing. The panel seem like it was part of a larger architectural setting and the appraiser wonders if it might have been part of a confessional, although the holes may be a little to large for that. But this is an antique architectural carved and parcel gilt pierced wood panel that is American or European, probably late 19th Century. The rectangular panel with molded frame with inset pierced upper panel with a grill with rosettes and other applied foliate decoration, the inset lower panel with spade-and-dot piercing. Unmarked. Dimensions: 23-1/2 inches tall, 34-1/2 inches wide, 2-1/2 inches deep CONDITION: This presents beautifully, but there are some minor splits and separations in the wood. This piece has a synergy with our listing, LU6651238132442, an antique prayer bench or pew from the late 19th century.

  • 19th Century Corner Chair American or English
    Located in Lomita, CA
The cherub upholstery fabric of this antique corner chair will bring a smile to your face, but the piece deserves a deeper look. It has a secret.: The chair has a "second skin," in a tweed upholstery that someone was reluctant to remove. The cherub upholstery on the armrest of the chair is actually a shawl or drape for the for the chair. It is Victorian, carved and turned walnut on a part-upholstered corner armchair that is English or American from the late 19th Century according to our appraiser. The seat is triangular with a rounded front rail, that is backed by two low arms with raised upholstery. The curved seat rail has a long fringe trim, all raised on four cylindrical bead turned legs on casters. The detachable fabric drape or shawl is priceless. Appraisers beleive this could have possibly been half of a two-piece tete-a-tete chair...

  • Antique, 19th Century Turned Pine Occasional Table
    Located in Lomita, CA
The beautiful details make this 19th century occasional table a standout. The design is 360 degrees with stylized touches from every angle, allowing for more design options. The pine finish has developed a warm patina, and the turned legs are flush with detail. The table is either American or English, late 19th Century. The rectangular top with molded edge over a corresponding frame fitted with a single molded long drawer, is raised on ring-turned legs, joined by a shelf stretcher. One of the planks in the stretcher is loose and will be tightened. This is a surprisingly sturdy and solid piece with nice design features. The table is wonderful in a number of settings, including a kitchen area, a foyer, a library or in a hallway accented with blue and white ceramic objects...
