Antique, 19th Century Turned Pine Occasional Table

About the Item

The beautiful details make this 19th century occasional table a standout. The design is 360 degrees with stylized touches from every angle, allowing for more design options. The pine finish has developed a warm patina, and the turned legs are flush with detail. The table is either American or English, late 19th Century. The rectangular top with molded edge over a corresponding frame fitted with a single molded long drawer, is raised on ring-turned legs, joined by a shelf stretcher. One of the planks in the stretcher is loose and will be tightened. This is a surprisingly sturdy and solid piece with nice design features. The table is wonderful in a number of settings, including a kitchen area, a foyer, a library or in a hallway accented with blue and white ceramic objects. The deep warm patina of the wood is particularly attractive with bright art objects. A wonderful antique piece that presents extremely well-- a piece with history and flair.

  • 19th Century Corner Chair American or English
    Located in Lomita, CA
The cherub upholstery fabric of this antique corner chair will bring a smile to your face, but the piece deserves a deeper look. It has a secret.: The chair has a "second skin," in a tweed upholstery that someone was reluctant to remove. The cherub upholstery on the armrest of the chair is actually a shawl or drape for the for the chair. It is Victorian, carved and turned walnut on a part-upholstered corner armchair that is English or American from the late 19th Century according to our appraiser. The seat is triangular with a rounded front rail, that is backed by two low arms with raised upholstery. The curved seat rail has a long fringe trim, all raised on four cylindrical bead turned legs on casters. The detachable fabric drape or shawl is priceless. Appraisers beleive this could have possibly been half of a two-piece tete-a-tete chair...

The stunning appearance of the rosettes that are hand carved into the panel are amazing. But this is an antique architectural carved and parcel gilt pierced wood panel...
