19thC Gothic Revival Ecclesiastical Chapel Antique Architectural Prie Dieu Niche

About the Item

A wonderful Victorian mahogany carved parcel-gilt Gothic Revival Church canopy accompanied by a matching parcel-gilt pier / pedestal table on a turned column with a shaped marble top. Both pieces are lavished with tracery carvings and parcel gilt detailing, floral motifs and an ornate Fleur-de-lys. This is an extremely attractive pairing, which could be used as a Prie Dieu or shrine, or a wonderful decorative folly with fabulous patination! The canopy has a later fixing to the back to enable it to be hung on a wall, as does the table to enable it to be secured to a wall. The piece of marble has a lovely figuring, and there are a couple of areas of pitting, as shown in the photo. Other than that, there are no noticeable chips or missing elements to both pieces. Measurements: Overall as shown in main image 230cm high x 62cm wide x 42cm deep Canopy 62cm wide x 19cm deep x 119cm high Table base 60cm wide x 42cm deep x 93cm high
