Gentlemans Antique Library Buttoned Oxblood Settee Faux Leather Scottish 19thC
About the Item
A wonderful 19th century Gentleman’s library settee sourced from a country house estate in Scotland. In the original buttoned leather cloth with brass head tack detailing, in an attractive oxblood colour, on turned birch legs with porcelain castors. The settee is nice and firm and will comfortably seat three people - the perfect addition to a country house setting, gentleman’s library, games room or reception area.
The settee is filled with horsehair, and the leather cloth has the most fabulous patina, having simply been leather soaped. In overall good condition considering it’s over 140 years old. There are a few age related marks to the fronts of the arms, one missing button, and a couple of period repairs to the back, which are shown in the images.
