Made in the 1920s, this elegant pair of wrought iron garden gates have stood the test of time. They are exceptionally well maintained, detailed with an abundance of ornate scrollwork, handcrafted by a talented blacksmith 100 years ago. They make a beautiful set of pedestrian gates, instilling a garden with a traditional English look. Alternatively, these antique could be used as entrance gates to a small driveway. Whatever their use, these reclaimed wrought iron gates are certain to bring intricate beauty to any outdoor setting.
Wrought Iron Gates
Gates and ironwork made from wrought iron have stood the test of time. This traditional method of craftsmanship sees the metal heated to a high temperature and then hammered into shape by a blacksmith’s hand, creating a robust and durable finish. The more wrought iron is worked, the stronger it becomes, making some of the most ornate antique gates some of the strongest. Large scale commercial production of wrought iron products ended in the mid 1970s due to the expensive and time-consuming nature of blacksmithing, making wrought iron gates true antiques, showcasing talented craftsmanship of the past.
