Large Natural Wood Window Balcony with Hand Carved Foliage Motifs and Bonnet Top

About the Item

A large Indian hand carved wooden bonnet top window balcony from the early 20th century with rod motifs, calligraphy and foliage. Found in India, this window balcony captivates our attention with its large proportions and natural finish. Adorned with a bonnet top sitting above a calm succession of rods, the piece presents two window panels, accented in their upper section with calligraphy surrounded by shields and discreet foliage. The rods echoing the top, are backed with wooden panels that open to allow perfect see through. The balcony finds its perfect conclusion in the lower protruding section, presenting a delicate serpentine shape, carved in low-relief with scrolling foliage and monogram, flanked with finials. With its large proportions, graceful lines and natural finish, this Indian wooden window balcony will be a great decorative addition to any home.

  • Early 20th Century Large Doors from Shanxi, China
    Located in Singapore, SG
These large doors originated from Shanxi province, China, and are approx. 100-120 years old. Besides the actual door number and road name, the others are the many accolades that this family has earned. Starting from the red plate on the left, this was given by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The Chinese words translate into "family of glory", this was to given to the household as a member of the family had retired from the military, to recognise his contribution to the country; it could also had been given to the family if the soldier was sacrificed during his service.
