18th century Louis XV period French fireback with pillars, two IHS monograms, and the date of production 1776.
The monogram IHS stands for Iesus Hominum Salvator (Jesus the Savior of Humanity) or In Hoc Signo (In this sign will you win). The pillars refer to the club of Hercules and stand for strength and the unknown.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request it can be made black/pewter at no extra costs. The fireback is in good condition and does not have cracks.
