French 19th Century Louis XV St. Ormolu and Mesh Fire Screen

About the Item

A striking French 19th century Louis XV st. ormolu and mesh fire screen. The fire screen is raised by beautiful scrolled foliate legs in the shape of acanthus leaves seemingly growing upwards centering a beautiful floral reserve with charming richly chased blooming flowers in a rich satin and burnished finish. Lovely scrolled foliate designs lead upwards framing the mesh screen with a stunning central ormolu mount of the eternal flame, a quiver, and a shield amidst laurel branches and tied with a charming ribbon. Above are elegant lattice patterns and fine foliate movements leading to the pierced mottled central reserve.
