French late 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu fireplace screen

About the Item

A wonderful and most decorative French late 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu fireplace screen. This high quality square fire screen is supported on two split feet being held by Greek key designed mounts on each corner. The inner edge of the fire screen is elegantly decorated with Coeur-de-Rai patterned bands. Stunning rosettes adorn each of the top protruding corners, with swaging Ormolu garlands leading to a central reserve of a charming gardening hat and tools below a tied ribbon. The top crown of this elegant fire screen is decorated with an arbalest shaped handle.
