Large Antique Victorian Hand Painted Metal & Enameled Cast Iron Firewood Bucket

About the Item

Marvelous size and impressive design, 'wood-painted' bucket. Only the wealthiest of people in the mid to late 1800s would have been able to afford a hand-crafted, work of art coal bucket of this size, beauty and quality. This large antique bucket would have graced the fireplace of a country house or mansion and it would most certainly be a statement piece. In a time when most people could barely get by, having a handcrafted piece like this just for keeping your coal or peat would be pretty amazing. In all our years of buying and selling antiques we had never seen or sold such an impressive bucket and to have found it in museum worthy condition, it truly feels like something or someone wants it this way and we can only be grateful. This heavy specimen is as strong and stable as the day it was hand-crafted about 150 years ago and the design and materials are breathtaking (combined with its condition ofcourse). The metal exterior of this antique bucket was made to look like wood via a special painting technique. And what takes this antique to the next level is that not only is this original burl-wood-painted exterior in near-pristine condition, it also is the most realistic 'foax burl' that we have ever seen. At some point in time the inside of this extremely rare and durable antique was painted red and luckily it was done professionally and they used the perfect color to match the exterior. Because of its great look, its large size and its strength and durability this rare and highly decorative bucket from circa 1870 nowadays can be used for all kinds of purposes. Whether used as a grand firewood bucket or on display for the work of art that it is, this rare antique will automatically lift the atmosphere of the space it is in and it will never fail to impress you or anyone visiting. Our fair price for this stunning and rare antique even includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum width (handles included) x height (including the finial) x depth: 24 x 23 x 14 inches. Weight: 12 kilogram or 26.5 pounds lbs. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

Rare, decorative and practical 'slide-in' fireplace with dragonheads. Most of the 19th century and early 20th century mansions in Europe had fireplaces both in the living rooms downstairs and in the (larger) bedrooms upstairs. Most of the mantle pieces survived, but the actual wrought iron fire places that were in them have disappeared, because over the decades they got replaced by new kinds of heating. This hand-crafted and stylish fireplace from the Arts and Crafts era was adjusted slightly, because it was used as a gas heater...
