Largest Antique Galvanized Copper & Forged Iron Firewood Bucket / Planter w. Lid

About the Item

Marvelous size and timeless shape, partially galvanized copper bucket for inside and outside usage. Only the wealthiest of people in the late 1800s would have been able to afford a hand-crafted copper bucket of this size and quality. This extra large antique bucket would be hung over a fire and the maid would wash both the clothes and bed linen. In all our years of buying and selling antiques we had never seen or sold an antique copper bucket of this size with the lid still there. And for both to still be in this superb condition made this find even more special. A former owner may have had this antique (re)galvanized, because the zinc coating would normally not stay intact for this long a period. This hand-crafted specimen is as strong and stable as the day it was hand-crafted all those years ago and it also has a wonderful patina. Mind you, the black residu on the bottom section of the copper is soot that accumulated there because of many years of being over a fire. The marvelous patina of the copper top section combined with the copper and soot color of the bottom section makes this hand-hammered copper with hand-forged iron handles bucket even more glorious and tactile. Because of its great look, its large size and its strength and durability this rare and large specimen from circa 1880 nowadays can be used for all kinds of display purposes, both inside and outside. Whether used as a grand firewood bucket or on display with a group of flowery plants inside, this rare antique will automatically lift the atmosphere of the space it is in and it will never fail to impress anyone visiting. Our price for this historical antique even includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays. Maximum diameter x height (lid included): 26.8 x 23.6 inches. Diameter of the original zinc lid of this copper bucket: 23.2 inches. Diameter of the base: 16.2 inches. Weight: 11 kilogram or appr. 24 pounds lbs. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. • Rare Antique WMF Attr. Arts & Crafts Embossed Brass Coal Kettle /Firewood Bucket
    By WMF Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik
    Located in Lisse, NL
Large, decorative and top quality workmanship brass, copper and bronze bucket. This one is for the connoisseurs, because it ticks all the Arts and Crafts boxes. The first owner who would have had this piece custom made or who bought it from one of the best craftsman/manufacturers in the early Arts & Crafts era (1890-1900) simply had incredibly good taste. This likely German made antique is among the best workmanship pieces that you will ever see and both design and materials wise it is most likely made by WMF (who need no further introduction). The artisan metal worker who crafted this lidded bucket took things to a whole new level, because this is a true work of art and a statement piece of unsurpassed quality, size and detail. 'Casually' on display next to a fireplace or perhaps used as a planter or other type of bucket, the first owner was communicating that money was not an object and that he was a worldly individual. Especially 125 years ago this would have been a very rare and desirable, work of art bucket that only very few people could afford. Its perfect balance, its stunning embossed Arts and Crafts floral...

  • Stunning & Largest Ever Pair of Antique Copper Pans for Wild Roast in Late 1700s
    Located in Lisse, NL
Extremely rare pair of top quality handcrafted, copper pans from the late 1700s or early 1800s. These enormous and amazing antique pans are the largest we have ever seen and to have found a pair that have been together for at least 200 years was another unique experience. In the late 1700s or early 1800s these must have been part of the kitchen interior of a castle or a large mansion. These literally are the size of small suitcases and they would have been handled by two adults, because when they are filled with gravy, meat and potatoes, they would be impossible to carry around by a single person. Mind you, the rectangular one alone weighs over 46 pounds. These completely handcrafted and hand-hammered copper antiques also come with perfectly hand forged wrought iron handles and they too are as strong and tight as the day they were forged all those years ago. These are the perfect decorative antiques for a five star hotel, for a Michelin star restaurant and they also make a great gift for a worldclass 'chef de cuisine'. With all due respect, we would rather not see these museum worthy antiques be used in a garden with flowers or plants in them. Mind you, our price for this largest ever and superb condition pair of handcrafted antique copper pans...
