About the Item
This monumental and richly decorated French antique fireplace mantel is crafted from finely veined white Carrara marble and exudes the classical grandeur of the Louis XVI style. The front is exceptionally detailed, featuring a recessed central ornament flanked by floral carvings, ribbon motifs, and musical instruments—symbols of art and culture. The entire composition is framed by a refined beaded garland that runs like a cord across the front.
The consoles are set at a 45-degree angle and are deeply carved with leaf and laurel motifs, typical of the French neoclassical design vocabulary. The side panels also feature subtle milling that enhances the overall richness of the piece. Original brass ventilation grilles, shaped like gilded vases on pedestals, lend an extra sense of luxury and refinement.
