Midcentury Swedish Fireplace Screen by Olle Hermansson for Husqvarna

About the Item

Midcentury Swedish fireplace screen by Olle Hermansson for Husqvarna. Note. This screen is wall-mounted, unlike the freestanding ones. A cast iron fireplace with a theme from the nordic mythology. We can see Thor (Tor) and his running goats and the hammer Mjölnir. Thor was the god of the storm, and thunder. The hammer was Thors primary weapon. It was no ordinary hammer; whenever Thor cast it at an enemy, it returned to his hands like a boomerang. Capture attention with this extraordinary mid-century Swedish Brutalist fire screen by Olle Hermansson for Husqvarna. Crafted in cast iron, this fire screen boasts an abstract and captivating theme. Artist Olle Hermansson, driven by a fascination for Nordic mythology, created this masterpiece where the sun shines from the right, forming an abstract figure of Thor holding a spear in the midst of the flames. Alternatively, it could depict the mythical Yggdrasil tree with a dragon to the left. Regardless of interpretation, this fire screen is a stunning Brutalist sculpture that invites individual imagination and interpretation. Stamped with Husqvarna brand, this artwork is as impressive as a fire screen as it is a sculpture. Elevate your style and add a unique touch to your home – this fire screen is not just a practical necessity but also an artistic statement that will be a conversation piece in any room. Should be great either as a fire screen or a sculpture. The last picture shows the screen in a home interior at Vouge Living magazine.

Swedish Art Deco Scones by Arno Glossner for Bohlmarks, Sweden, 1938. Actually an object that should belong in a design museum. In Arno Glössner's glass etching, one could discern an era marked by profound societal upheavals and the looming threat of World War II. The artwork resonates with the imagery of Leviathan, a colossal sea monster resembling a massive fish or whale. In various mythologies, Leviathan is portrayed as one of the most formidable creatures of the sea, sometimes associated with Triton, the sea god, as its master. However, depictions and interpretations of Leviathan vary across different traditions and sources, adding layers of complexity to its symbolism. "Leviathan" is a groundbreaking book in political philosophy, authored by the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes...
