About the Item

A rare and most charming antique Anglo Indian British Colonial brass bound hand turned hollowed log bucket. Early 19th century, India, handmade during the British rule on the Indian subcontinent (pre British Raj period), having a ribbed hollowed peat log wooden frame, mounted with heavily patinated brass strapping, decorated with applied repousse animal motifs at sides, dual ring handles, attractive heavily worn distressed patina over the whole including organic age related split to bottom. Versatile: Highly decorative functional art, perfect for decor, or add a liner for us as a fireplace coal hod - ash scuttle, cachepot jardiniere planter, wine cooler ice bucket, and more. Dimensions: (approx) 9" High, 12" Diameter, 7.5 lbs Condition: Good original unrestored antique condition with beautifully aged warm rustic heavily worn patina. Wear consistent with age and indicative of use, including age related splits to wood at sides and bottom, some loss and separation to metal, one handle with old primitive repair. Highly desirable original heavily patinated finish.
