French 19th century Empire st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu fire screen

About the Item

A decorative and most handsome French 19th century Empire st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu fire screen. This stunning square fire screen is raised by a long slender rectangular patinated Bronze base accented by a mottled edge Ormolu plinth. The front of the base is decorated with two lions facing each other with one paw on an urn between them. The lions are flanked on either side by laurel vines and stout square columns on each end with front facing pawed feet. Above the top capital of the stout columns on each end are additional slender circular columns with fluted designs above. The shaft of both circular patinated Bronze columns display two reserves of mottled edge Ormolu supports that holds the mesh screen. Above the top capital of the circular columns is a baluster shaped urn. The mesh screen is tastefully decorated with pierced Rocaille designed ornaments in each corner as well as a central reserve along the top bar. The top central reserve showcases an arbalest shaped patinated Bronze mount with elaborate scrolling foliate Ormolu designs with an acorn Ormolu top finial.
