A period George III late 18th century fireplace in Kilkenny marble. Architectural in design with simple jambs stood on square foot blocks, supporting a long frieze with plain centre tablet. Shaped under mouldings beneath a simple and generous shelf. Irish circa 1790

A well drawn and proportioned early 19th century antique Irish fireplace from the Regency period. The pilaster jambs with cushion mould panels to front, with conforming detail on brackets. The large fielded panelled tablet with cushion moulded panels either side. All beneath a simple plain shelf. Carved in a certain strain of Italian Carrara marble commonly referred to as "Old English" as it was used predominantly in the late 18th , early 19th centuries.
