A Louis XVI chimneypiece composed of S-scrolled jambs and a running guilloche frieze and projecting shelf. The carving in White Marble is brisk and dynamic, yet the delicacy and extent of carving imparts a lavishness. The aperture is of landscape proportion and flanked handsomely by the scrolled acanthus jambs, completing what is a quintessential French chimneypiece.
