About the Item
A magnificent Italian 19th century white Carrara marble fountain of Cupid with a Dolphin. The fountain is raised on a double square base below a tapering socle. Above is the baluster shaped central column decorated with carved acanthus leaves and leading to the carved reservoir bowl with gadroon shaped edges and underside. Cupid is raised on a wave while holding the dolphin in one hand (where water shoots out) and a raised shell in the other. Wonderfully carved and exceptional attention to detail throughout.
