About the Item
An impressive and large scale Italian 19th century white Carrara marble and patinated Bronze fountain. This stunning fountain is raised by a square base with carved paws at each corner with acanthus leaves above. At the center of each concave side are most decorative family crest, a profile and foliage. Above is the tapered marble support which is elegantly designed with additional acanthus leaves and scrolled foliate vines amidst flowers and rosettes. Above is the impressive and large scale half round bowl with an outer carved gadroon shaped designs and a top mottled edge rim. Inside the bowl is a central raised marble column which presents and supports the patinated Bronze cherub. The charming cherub is showcased with open wings while holding a dolphin, from where the water spouts from. Wonderful presence and all original patina throughout.
