Jenkins & Phipps Stick and Ball Wicker Portrait Chair

About the Item

Jenkins & Phipps stick and ball wicker photographers or portrait chair with asymmetrical scrolled right arm and fiddleheads, woven skirt, and woven beaded front legs. Jenkins-Phipps label on underside, dating this chair from between 1903 and 1918. Structurally sound with no breaks or losses and no restorations. Finish is original. We can restore or refinish or paint, as requested. Last two images show a similar chair that had been painted white. "The other rattan company in Wakefield, the A. D. Jenkin's and Company, evolved into the Jenkins-Phipps Company after Jenkins partnered with a salesman named Irvin E. Phipps, who left the Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company circa 1903. The new company sold out to Pierce & Foley of Boston and New Jersey in the late spring of 1918. Under new ownership the factory in Wakefield expanded becoming the American Reed and Willow Company….." From The Richardson Light Guard of Wakefield, Massachusetts: A Town Militia in War and Peace 1851-1975 by Barry M. Stentiford.

Dedon "Obelisk" Stacking Garden Furniture (x 2)
By DEDON, Frank Ligthart
Located in Hanover, MA
The Obelisk designed by Frank Ligthart for Dedon, 2008. No longer in production. Inspired by the Neolithic menhirs of Carnac in the French region of Brittany it is composed of two pairs of matching high- and low-back lounge chairs and a conical table. The base of the table supports all the chairs when stacked into its sculptural shape for storage. We also have available separately a near complete additional Obelisk consisting of three of the S chairs and one M chair plus the table. Image 9 shows the complete Obelisk plus the spare table and chairs. Best of both worlds is to have the spare set for seating together with the complete Obelisk as sculpture, until additional seating is required. Image 8 shows the "spare" set which includes 3 "S" chairs (instead of 2) and 1 "M" chair (instead of 2) and one table base. The discounted price for the spare set on its own is $4100. The spare set will not stack to form the obelisk because that requires two of each chair. This is the ultra-chic original space-saving solution for garden, pool or terrace furniture...
