About the Item

A white paint decorated cast iron curtain settee with tripartite back panels displaying c-scrolls and s-scrolls, arabesque pattern, ornamental crests with fleur di lis atop back panels, decorative aprons at the seat edge and resting upon four legs conjoined with scalloped stretchers. These settees were made by various makers including Peter Timmes of Brooklyn, New York. This rare model is by John McLean also New York and marked in the mold on verso as shown. John McLean was active in New York from 1877 to 1905. Dimensions: 35" W, 18" D, 16.75 seat height and 38.25 to top of center ornamentation. Condition: Please see detail photos. There are various signs of age including heavy flaking including active flaking, paint losses and rust but still presents in a fine Victorian manner.
