Vintage Naturalistic Sculptural Cast Stone Bird Bath / Garden Ornament
About the Item
A magnificent vintage cast stone birdbath (landscape ornament, wildlife garden water feature, planter, outdoor sculpture) of fine quality, exquisitely detailed, richly sculpted, fanciful animalier inspired naturalistic form.
Exceptionally executed design, this 20th century masterpiece features a detachable small shield cartouche shaped shallow bowl basin top, over a sturdy architectural square capital topped turned baluster-form fluted column pedestal surrounded with intricate climbing vines of ivy, a whimsical pair of mice, and large butterfly, rising on a heavy conforming cartouche shaped naturalistic base, adorned with realistic rendering of a frog, snail, and decorative beds of various flowers and foliate carvings in relief, featuring a large scrolled plaque, partially legible, reading "may thy find joy..." The top of the stand signed/impressed with two hard to decipher symbols and dated 1983.

Great original vintage condition. Presents splendidly, enhanced by warm, nicely aged patina. Strong, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound, with possible wear and tear consistent with age and use.
