France; circa 1860s/1870s Over 150 years ago at a vineyard in the rural French countryside, these massive hand-crafted screw elements were a crucial component of a mechanical wine-press machine, extracting juice from crushed grapes during the wine making process. Salvaged and repurposed, featuring intricate foliate and grape motif relief carvings to the original heavy-duty solid wood base, finished in a rich warm dark brown stain, fitted with later round dished platform top.
