French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and Ormolu pedestal
About the Item
An impressive and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Rouge Griotte marble and Ormolu pedestal. This beautiful pedestal is raised on a square marble block supported on an Ormolu base plate with four square feet containing short fluted designs. The mottled edged circular socle above displays a wrap around Ormolu band with reeded designs and scrolling acanthus leaves. Above the straight marble shaft is the tastefully decorated top capital. The capital has a wonderful Ionic style with 'S' scrolled figures with acanthus leaves over top, swaging berried foliate garlands, and fierce lion's heads. Atop the Ionic capital is the square Rouge Griotte marble display shelf.
