Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Onyx and Ormolu Pedestal Columns
About the Item
A stunning and extremely elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. onyx and ormolu pedestal columns. Each pedestal is raised by fine ormolu supports below the square onyx base with a lovely mottled border. The circular onyx central support displays a square and circular ormolu base with a richly chased wrap around foliate band and elegant mottled design. Above are ormolu capitals with a striking fluted pattern and a detailed most charming sunflower. All below the square top plateau that swivels via the original mechanism. Wonderful proportions.
