About the Item

A very attractive and most decorative true pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. patinated Bronze pedestals. Each finely decorated pedestal is raised by a squared tapered shaft and supported by four scrolling feet attached to the base accented with rams heads above and scalloped central reserves between each foot. The base contained spaced lattice patterns below the shaft. The shaft is decorated with a reeded background and floral ornaments leading up to its top cap. The top cap contains scrolling corners with crest shaped reserves and decorated by spaced lattice designs. Sitting atop the shaft of the pedestal is a cherub dressed in a flowing garment held by a fine strap over his shoulder. The cherub has both of his arms raised above his head showcasing a display shelf supported by a pillow above. The squared display shelf is beautifully decorated by crest shaped reserves around its base while being flanked by scrolling foliate designs. The top of the display shelf is tastefully designed with mottled edges and additional scrolling foliate designs. Base Diameter: 13.5"
