About the Item

A Spanish hand-carved stone wellhead (would make a great planter!) from the 18th century. This antique well cover from Spain has been hand-carved of stone, mostly circular in shape, with various decorative patterning etched throughout its exterior. This piece would have once graced a wellhead (top of well) as a cover to protect debris from contaminating of a fresh water source, while also allowing for access. The stone has a beautiful weathered patina; a wonderful showing of age and centuries of use. Please note that the shape of this piece is imperfect, and that the height varies from 27" at its tallest point to 14.5" at its lowest height. This 18th century Spanish stone wellhead could be repurposed for modern use as a fabulous planter, a pot jardinière for a small tree, or a statement piece within a garden landscape.
