About the Item

China was the earliest known civilization create works with cast iron, first appearing thousands of years ago during the illustrious Zhou dynasty. This early 18th century iron vessel was once used for collecting rain water in a traditional garden and was kept near the home in case of fire. Textured with subtle trailing vine patterns in low relief and balanced on tripod feet, the unusual container makes for a fantastic planter or fire pit.
