About the Item

A fine and unusual early 19th Century Country House mahogany planter in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster and London. Stunningly hand carved and of large proportions, the shaped and moulded top of rectangular form with canted corners above an elegantly pierced body. Raised over finely turned baluster column with concentric fluted detail, supported on concave quatrefoil base with tapering, fluted and scrolling outsplayed legs, terminating on brass acanthus and scroll motif beautifully cast sabots and casters.
