A French Jardinière With Mossy Patina, c.1900

About the Item

This large and well-preserved cement garden urn has large, rounded handles, a square pedestal base and embossed lions on its front and back. The piece was found in Normandie, France, where it has been in continuous outdoor use. The surface is richly aged with various blotches, spots of lichen and clumps of moss still adhering. The silver-gray antique color would harmonize with blue and purple plantings. Despite the piece's age, its condition is good, with only modest losses well-dispersed and a chip in one corner of the base.
