Pair of Chinese Petite Mythical Limestone Basins

The artisan who carved this pair of petite basins skilfully called out the stone’s natural veining by delicately tracing the markings with carved vertical lines and shaping with subtle curves. The unusual feet suggest the paws of an animal or roots, giving the basins a fanciful, mythical appearance. A single rosette, or possibly a burl, adds curiosity.
