Bronze Garden Deer or Fawn of Pompeii, Late 19th Century

A realistic patinated bronze sculpture of a deer, copying the famous deer of Pompeii, late 19th century. Note: A cast fawn like this one was sold at Sotheby's in 2007. In the auction listing, which attributed the casting to the F. Chiurazzi foundry (after the antique example), it notes that the similar example formerly resided in the Ferreyra Palace in Cordoba, Argentina, a French Classical-style house built by Dr. Martin Ferreyra, a noted early 20th century surgeon.
