About the Item

A high quality French late 19th century patinated Bronze statue of Bacchus and Ariadne, signed Vavasseur and by the Pradier Foundry. This extremely well executed elongated oval shaped Bronze statue depicts both Bacchus and Ariadne lounging next to each other. Bacchus rest next to a wonderfully detailed basket of freshly harvested grapes, while hold a chalice above his head. Ariadne is holding up a grape vine above her head, while holding back her hair. Both are displayed in classical draped attire. Wonderful and unique proportions with a rich patination throughout.
