Japanese antique stone five-ring tower/1500 to 1600s/Garden object/Wabisabi

About the Item

This item is "Gorin-to" It is called = (The Five Ring Pagoda). The Gorin Pagoda is based on the Buddhist worldview that the universe is made up of the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and sky, and this idea is applied to the pagoda, which is made up of five tiers. ing. Its origin comes from China and India. This was made around 1500 to 1600. (Late Muromachi period to early Edo period) The material is probably sandstone. The oldest one dates back to the late 12th century, and large ones were made at that time. Therefore, each step is often carved separately. Please see the attached photo of The Gorin Pagoda for your reference. This tower is truly an item from the era of downsizing. This was a time when it was popular for common people to personally donate money to temples. For this reason, small sizes that were easy to build were preferred. This is in good condition and has great taste. It stands on its own, so it can be placed on a flat surface. Place it in your garden, at your front door, or wherever you like. This is a recommended item. Weight: 4.9kg If you want something special, we encourage you to purchase our selected items. We mainly sell carefully selected old Japanese items. Since ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials, passed them on, and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate a certain flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the human being, the stronger the power of the tool. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is a very old candlestick...
