Large Carrara Marble Statue of Hebe, After Antonio Canova, circa 1850

A beautiful carved white marble figure of Hebe, gliding on her original stone pedestal, from the 2nd quarter of the 19th century. The figure itself is 165cm and including the pedestal it is 250cm, making it a stunning sculpture. circa 1830 Antonio Canova (1575-1822) was an Italian Neoclassical sculptor famous for his marble sculptures and is often regarded as one of the greatest Neoclassical artists. Hebe is among Antonio Canova's most successful and recognisable models.
